Adventure tours in Antalya: which one suits which traveller

The Antalya coast sells its adventures by type, not by rank, and the honest way to choose is to ask what you want to do with a day: be driven through the mountains, drive yourself on an off-road course, paddle a river, lie on a deck at sea, have a boat to yourselves, go under the water, cruise a lake, or leave the province for a day. This page walks through each type from the facts of the operation that runs it, says who it suits, and sends you to the page that sells it. The jeep days are ours; the rest belong to sister operations of the same family.

How to read this page

Nothing here is ranked. A jeep safari is not better than a boat day, and rafting is not better than a quad; they answer different wishes, and the right one depends on who is travelling, how long they want to be out, and whether they want to steer, paddle, swim or simply look. Each section below describes one type from its own facts and names the kind of guest it fits.

Every one of these days runs on the same commercial footing: the reservation itself is free, no card is asked for online, euros are handed over on the tour day, and a seat released more than 24 hours ahead costs nothing. That is true of the jeep, quad, buggy, rafting, boat and yacht days named below.

Jeep safari: the mountains without driving

A jeep safari is a full day in the Taurus foothills as a passenger in an open-top 4x4 with a professional driver: dusty tracks, shallow river crossings, viewpoints, a village stop, lunch beside running water, and in summer water fights between the jeeps. It runs approximately 7 or 8 hours depending on the belt, and this site sells five such departures, one per resort belt. For Lara, Kundu, Konyaaltı and the city centre, the jeep safari from Antalya city hotels is the one to book.

It suits families with children from age 4, couples who want to look rather than steer, and anyone who wants a long, easy day of scenery with a meal in it. It is not recommended for pregnant guests or anyone with back or neck problems, and guests never drive. The five belts, from Kemer through the city and Belek to Side and Alanya, are set out on the jeep safari map of the whole province.

If you already know your hotel, the only question is which belt it stands in, and which jeep departure matches your hotel is answered on one page.

Quad and buggy: the off-road course you drive

The quad safari is the day for guests who want the handlebars. A sister operation collects from a coast list between Antalya city and the Side belt and drives guests to a private off-road course in the Aspendos area around the Köprüçay river, with river sections, forest tracks and off-road trails; no driving licence is required because it is an off-road course rather than a public road, drivers are aged 16 or over, and a compulsory test ride before every tour decides who drives. The ride is sold in a short and a long length inside a programme of approximately 4 to 4.5 hours door to door, with no meal included. The details are on the quad safari on the Belek course.

The buggy runs on the same course under the same rules, but seats two side by side, a driver and a passenger, which is why couples often prefer it; the passenger pays half the driver's price, there is no child rate, and children under four are not recommended. That version is the two-seater buggy safari from Belek.

Guests torn between a driven day and a driving day will find jeep or quad, compared in detail on its own page, with the family and couple angles worked through.

Rafting: the river day

Rafting is the day for guests who want to be on the water and working. From the Belek strip a sister operation drives guests to a canyon national park in the Taurus, where a professional guide steers every raft and you paddle a long stretch of white water and calm pools on the Köprüçay river, with swim stops, a riverside open-buffet lunch, and helmet, life jacket, paddle and wetsuit supplied. Swimming ability is not required, because the life jacket is worn throughout and a guide is in every boat; the day is suitable from age 7 and runs approximately 8 hours door to door. It is sold as the rafting day from Belek.

For the Side belt the river and the jeep are sold together: four real combined departures from Side, Evrenseki, Kumköy and Manavgat hotels put an off-road jeep leg and the rafting into one day, and the rafting and jeep combo days from the Side belt have their own page with the fares and inclusions.

Guests weighing the two elements separately can read jeep or rafting, compared in detail, which also explains why the combo exists only from the Side belt.

Boat days: sea, galleon and lake

A boat day is the day for guests who want stillness: a deck, swim stops in coves, lunch on board. From the Belek belt a sister operation runs a pirate-themed galleon that boards at Side Harbour with the hotel transfer included, cruises the Side coastline, anchors for swimming straight off the deck, and serves a barbecue lunch with a foam party and games for children on board; it suits families, couples and groups and is a full day of around 7 hours, though not ideal for guests with limited mobility. That day is the pirate galleon from Belek.

From the Alanya belt the same family runs a pirate boat out of Alanya harbour, and the Alanya boat day on our sister site sets out what the day holds: a meal served on board, an animation team, foam on the deck, and Cleopatra Beach, the two caves and the castle seen from the sea.

Mountains or sea is a real question for many guests, and jeep or boat, compared in detail settles it from the facts of both days.

The lake is the third water. The reservoir behind the Oymapınar Dam near Manavgat is a calm, cool, deep-green lake between pine-clad cliffs, and a sister operation sells a cruise on it with swim stops and lunch on board: the Green Canyon boat tour. It is freshwater, not the Mediterranean, and it suits guests who want to swim without waves.

Private yacht: the whole boat for your group

A private yacht is a different purchase from a shared boat day: the whole vessel is reserved for your group alone, with a professional captain and crew, and the route and swim stops are shaped to your wishes, weather permitting. It is priced per boat as a starting price rather than per person, and the final figure depends on the yacht category and the size of the party. A sister operation sells such charters from Side, Kumköy and Alanya, some with lunch on board and the hotel transfer included, others with the meal arranged in advance; it suits celebrations, families who want their own deck, and groups who would rather not share. Those boats are sold as a private yacht charter.

Diving and Pamukkale

Two more days belong on this list even though they are not adventure in the mountain sense. A sister operation runs scuba diving on the Antalya coast; guests who want to go under the water rather than across it should read the scuba diving day from Antalya.

Guests who want to leave the province for a day have Pamukkale sold as a day trip from the Antalya coast by another sister operation: the Pamukkale day trip from Antalya.

Which suits which traveller

The same question, answered by the kind of guest rather than by the activity.

  • Family with a child under 7: jeep safari (child rate from age 4, infants free), galleon or Green Canyon cruise; rafting not yet, quad and buggy not recommended under four
  • Family with older children: jeep safari, rafting from age 7, the Side-belt rafting-and-jeep combo, any boat day
  • Couple who wants to drive: buggy (two seats side by side) or quad, after the compulsory test ride
  • Couple who wants to look: jeep safari, then a boat day later in the week
  • Group of friends: jeep safari (a party of 8-10 usually fills one jeep), a private yacht if you want the boat to yourselves
  • Guests with back or neck problems: boat days and the yacht; the jeep, quad and buggy are not recommended
  • Guests in Kemer or Alanya: the jeep safari has its own departure from each; the quad and buggy course, the rafting day and the combos collect elsewhere, so ask before assuming a pickup

Booking the jeep day, once you have chosen

Choosing the type of day is the hard part. The jeep departures are the ones this site takes directly, and it is not a ranking that decides which of the five you reserve but the belt your hotel stands in. Before you send the form it is worth reading what the five jeep departures cost side by side, adult and child rates together, with the Side-belt combo fares beside them.

Guests who have settled on a jeep day but not on a belt can go one level down and read whether one of the five jeep days is the best, a question that page answers honestly instead of picking a winner. If your hotel is in one of the on-request areas, the WhatsApp number on this page, +90 536 603 75 84, is the way to ask before booking anything.

Questions

Questions about this tour

Which adventure tour in Antalya is right for a family?
It depends on the children's ages. The jeep safari takes children from age 4 at a child rate, with infants free, and the family travels in the same convoy. Rafting is suitable from age 7. The galleon and the Green Canyon cruise take children from age 4. Quad and buggy are not recommended for children under four and have no child rate.
Can I drive myself on any of these tours?
On the quad and the buggy, yes: no licence is required because the ride is on an off-road course, drivers are aged 16 or over, and a compulsory test ride decides who drives. On the jeep safari, never; every jeep has a professional driver.
Which tours run from Kemer and Alanya?
The jeep safari has its own departure from the Kemer belt and from the Alanya belt, and Alanya has its own pirate boat. The quad and buggy course, the Belek rafting day and the rafting-and-jeep combos collect from other belts, so ask on WhatsApp before counting on a pickup from Kemer or Alanya.
Is there a tour that combines two activities?
Yes, one: rafting and jeep safari in one day, sold from Side, Evrenseki, Kumköy and Manavgat hotels. There is no jeep-and-quad, jeep-and-boat or combo from Belek, Antalya, Kemer or Alanya.
Do all of these tours include lunch?
The jeep safari, the rafting day, the galleon, the Green Canyon cruise and the combos include lunch. The quad and buggy programmes include no meal. Private yachts vary: some include lunch on board, others arrange the meal in advance.
Do I have to pay in advance for any of them?
No. The jeep, quad, buggy, rafting, boat and yacht days are reserved free of charge, with no card taken online, paid in euros on the day, and cancellable free of charge up to 24 hours before departure.
Which tour is the least physical?
The shared boat days and a private yacht: the day is spent sitting, lying and swimming. The jeep, quad and buggy involve rough tracks and are not recommended for pregnant guests or anyone with back or neck problems; rafting adds paddling.
