Approximate length by departure
The five departures fall into two groups. The eastern days from Side and Alanya run approximately 8 hours; the three western days from Belek, the Antalya city belt and Kemer run approximately 7 hours. Both figures count the whole day from the moment the jeep collects you at the hotel gate to the moment it drops you back there, with the climb, the stops, lunch and the descent in between.
The word approximately is not decoration. The length moves with the order in which the hotels along the belt are collected, the number of guests, the water level at the crossings, how long the group lingers at the swim stop and the pace of lunch. The records for the western days themselves disagree by an hour, so we publish a rounded figure and not a promise.
- Side — approximately 8 hours
- Alanya — approximately 8 hours
- Belek — approximately 7 hours
- Antalya city belt (Lara, Kundu, Konyaaltı, centre) — approximately 7 hours
- Kemer — approximately 7 hours
Morning start only
All five departures start in the morning. There is no afternoon jeep safari and no evening version on this coast; the programme needs the daylight for the climb, the water and the lunch stop, and it is not sold in a shorter form. If a listing elsewhere offers a half-day or sunset jeep tour, it is not one of these five.
The exact pickup time is not printed anywhere on this site on purpose. It depends on where your hotel sits along the belt and is confirmed after booking; you wait at your hotel's main entrance gate. The detail of how hotel pickup works in each region — which sub-areas are collected on a scheduled basis and which only on request — has its own page.
How much of the day is in the mountains
More than many guests expect. The only part of the day spent on the coast road is the collection of the hotels along the belt before the convoy turns inland, and the drop-off at the end. Everything else — the climb from the resort strip into the Taurus foothills, the dirt tracks, the crossings, the village or stream stop, the viewpoints and lunch — happens up in the hills. We do not put a number on the mountain share, because it is not measured and the records do not give one.
A stop-by-stop account of what happens between pickup and drop-off is on the programme page. For the purpose of planning, treat the whole approximately 7 or 8 hours as time away from the hotel.
Why Side and Alanya run longer
The Side day with the optional lake boat has a longer list of stops than any other departure on the coast: the old Roman bridge, the orchards, the aqueducts, viewpoints over Green Lake and Green Canyon, a swim stop with pancakes in Oymapınar village, the dam photo stop, a lakeside lunch and a village mosque visit. Add the optional boat hour on the lake, paid on the day, and a programme-dependent waterfall stop, and the approximately 8 hours make sense.
The Alanya departure runs along a river rather than up to a lake, and the water is where the hours go: crossings on the Dim River, a waterfall and a dam photo stop, a village stop, a village house and mosque visit, a swim and a lunch on a platform over the river. The optional Dim Cave visit sits inside the same day.
The three approximately 7-hour days
Belek, the Antalya city belt and Kemer are stream-crossing days. Each climbs from its own coast into the foothills, runs dirt tracks with shallow river or muddy crossings, pauses for water games and stops either at a mountain village (Belek for gözleme and tea, the city belt for traditional crafts) or at a clear mountain stream (Kemer) before a riverside lunch. The records for these routes name no places, so we describe their shape rather than their map.
The approximately 7 hours are still a full day out. If you are unsure which departure applies to your resort, the rule is simple: the belt your hotel stands in decides, because the pickup belts do not overlap.
What can stretch or shorten the day
Season changes the content more than the clock. Summer runs use open-top jeeps and include water fights and swim stops; winter runs use covered jeeps and drop the water games, but they follow the same route and are still a full day. How the season changes the day is set out on the weather page. Rain can also turn a dusty track into a muddy one, which the drivers take slowly.
The other variable is the group. A convoy that collects hotels at both ends of a long belt spends longer on the coast road than one whose guests are clustered, and a group that lingers at the swim stop gets back later. None of this is predictable to the hour, which is why the length is approximate.
Planning the rest of the day around it
Treat the jeep safari as the day's one activity. Do not book anything else on the same day that has to start at a fixed hour, and do not plan the departure for the morning of a flight. Lunch is included, so there is no need to eat beforehand beyond breakfast; drinks at the restaurant are paid at the table.
For families: the day is the same length for children, who pay the child rate for ages 4-12 and travel free at 0-3, accompanied by an adult. There is no shortened version for younger guests.
Reserving the day
Reserving takes no card and no prepayment: choose the date, tick your pickup area and enter the number of adults and children. If your hotel is in Lara, Kundu, Konyaaltı or the city centre, book the Antalya city day; the other four belts have their own booking forms. Nothing leaves your account in advance: calling off the booking costs nothing until 24 hours before departure, and the euros are handed over on the day of the tour.
